Spider-Man: Brand New Day Set for Record Global Opening

-

Peter Parker has never felt more alone — and audiences can’t wait to watch him deal with it.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, opens globally on July 31, 2026, with India and China getting the film even earlier. Tracking suggests it could be one of the biggest superhero openings in years.

A Grounded, Solo Peter Parker

Set four years after Spider-Man: No Way Home, the film finds Peter (Tom Holland) living alone in New York, cut off from MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon), whose memories of him were erased. He’s juggling street-level crime, a strange transformation happening to his own body, and a collision course with Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. Mark Ruffalo returns as Bruce Banner to help make sense of it, while Sadie Sink joins the cast in a role Marvel has kept tightly under wraps.

Critics Are Already On Board

Early reviews landed strong, with the film holding a Certified Fresh score in the low 90s on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics have pointed to a more grounded, street-level tone as a welcome shift away from the multiverse-heavy storytelling of recent Marvel entries, with particular praise for Holland’s performance.

Records Falling Before Release Day

Industry trackers project a global opening weekend in the hundreds of millions, with North America alone tracking toward a debut north of $250 million. The film’s early China premiere on July 29 delivered Hollywood’s strongest superhero opening there in seven years.

An Early Start in India

India gets the film a full day ahead of the global release, on July 30. Advance sales have already climbed past a million dollars, with premium seats in Bengaluru and Mumbai fetching well over ₹3,000. The film carries a UA 13+ rating from the CBFC after minor trims, and is releasing in six languages including Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

What Comes With the Ticket

Theatergoers get an early look too: prints are carrying the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, with some screenings possibly attaching an early trailer for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana as well.
